Unbelievable goal with 5.4secs left. World Junior Hockey Championships.

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

I have to admit I’m one of those Canadians that have become enraptured by the World Junior Hockey Championships – the tournament no one else in the world cares about. But to give me a little credit, this brand of hockey is good. It’s fierce competition with pure pride and country on the line. It’s the Canadian version of NCAA March Madness.

With only seconds remaining and down by 1 in the semi-finals of the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championships, Canada needs a goal against their rivals Russia to keep the ‘drive for five alive’ (5 consecutive gold medals). With hope fading fast, the impossible happens and the rest is history. This has recently been ranked by TSN as the number one World Junior moment in the last five years. Here’s my take on this marquee event. Enjoy.
