Hi guys, do you have any fun field hockey drills to engage the most unengaged pe class?

Hi, well basically my pe teacher said I could help plan her hockey lesson, because i’m really interested in hockey. Our class is completely unenthusiatic and don’t like hockey at all. Can you think of/do you know of any fun drills we could do to try and get them more interested in the sport?
Thank you x

Hi, I coach young groups of children in field hockey and trust me, there isn’t any point in trying to make up drills unless the people you are coaching are really interested. However if they have to participate, you can create drills such as an Indian Dribble, ending up in a V Drag/Squeeze/Double Drag etc.. and then end this move in a shot on goal. I recommend setting up 2 or 3 drills at a time to keep the pace of the drills up, to keep people on their toes you could say to them that whoever misses their shot, or whoever makes a big mistake in the drill has to do 10 press ups. The best advice I can give you is to keep changing things around, don’t put people on the same drill for too long, 15-20 minutes should do it, end with a game of hockey, 10 minutes at least. Hope this helps, good luck getting them engaged! x
