You shouldn’t be on …
You shouldn’t be on your heal at all for a forward crossover. Middle blade to toe, that’s it. Weight on the inside blade of the turn. Weight is beared on the inner leg, but with a crossover, the goal is for your outer leg to momentarily become the inner leg, and therefore bear the brunt of your weight for a short moment.
If you’re trying to …
If you’re trying to learn to crossover, might I recommend putting alot of practice time into rollerblade crossovers? It’ll teach you proper movement and weight placement, and is one of the few things that transfers well to ice. This way, you’re not wasting valueable ice time practicing this. I remember the first time doing a backwards crossover, scary as heck! Put one foot over the other, no matter how slowly, and eventually you’ll have it. The weight is on the inside of your blade.
I am not a horrible …
I am not a horrible skater, nor do I play on a hcokey team, but this guy is awesome and I wish I had a 1/4 of even a 1/4 of his talent. I wish so much, more than a PONY that I could cross over left/right and sharp turn. IF anyone could add tips to this Video I would appreciate it. IE> When you cross over, where do you bear the weight – in or outer leg? or sharp turn, what’s the best tips & tricks, weight bearing, foot to heal, heal to toe? hand on ice rotating? Anyone and id really appreciate it
