hey everyone, i’m 16 and for the past couple years i’ve been desperately trying to get into hockey and its just impossible where i live, unless your on a high school team. which im not ready for. so i was just wondering if there were any skills camps i could go to on the west coast.
I am not sure where on the West coast you are, but here is a starting point. You can find a pro team near you (nhl or ahl) and see what kind of camps they offer. I posted a link for the LA Kings’ "Hockey 101 Clinics," and Jr. Camp. Most teams have things like this.
Or just start calling the local rinks, they usually have something there. Ask them when they have pick-up games. That’s what did. My high school didn’t have a hockey team, so I just went out and played pick-up games, sometimes with high school kids, sometimes with guys from a bar who needed extras. You will usually find someone who will help you out.

Mark Ciaccio, the power skating coach of the Phoenix Coyotes, has week long camps that include hardcore skating, passing, and off-ice drills. I’ve taken a lot of his camps, and have found them very beneficiall. So if you’re willing to fly out to Arizona, and put down a few hundred for the camp, then i highly suggest that’s what you do.
you can check out his website at http://www.mchockeyskills.com
