I am currently 17 and have suffered several injuries, which forced me to miss tryouts for varsity at school, although my coaches told me that I would’ve made it. Next year is my last year to play and impress scouts. I want to really improve my game, not only to make varsity, but to be one of the top players. I’m looking for really good summer camps and leagues in either the toronto or boston area.

honestly i don’t really know hockey camps for those areas.. sorry.

i just came here for the best answer. lol

I am 14 and I played hockey till I was 9. I quit cause my coach was racist and I was always put on the bench. I play shinny most of the time with the older guys and I usually have good dangles and can get 1 or 2 goals every game. But I am finally starting to play hockey next year. So this year I am going to get in shape and muscular and skilled so next year in bantam I can be at the same skill level or better. So i need some good hockey drills. i have my own backyard rink that I can practice on. So what are some good stick handling drills, skating skills, everything. I would like to make it into the WHL in canada.

Here is a site that might help.

http://www.besthockeydrills.com/hockey-drills/newsletter.html

Either that or go to a library and look in the sports section under hockey there might be some good things there.
My local library for example has on its shelves the DVD
"my hockey tips and training methods " by Alexei Kovalev.

Good luck

I don’t think so…

But you have to be really talented and get a scholarship to play for a Division I college hockey team (ie. Boston College, U of Maine, U of Minnesota). And most of those players that got a scholarship DID play for a junior team.

Extra Inquiry: Who thinks we should get Mike Rowe on the ice to be a practice goalie?

I hear lots of them eat pasta. In the playoffs during a long overtime, they order pizza and bananas – really high carb and fat to keep them going, I guess. It’s weird, I just can’t imagine working out so hard you actually need pizza!

Y’meen Dirty Mike Rowe? Could be a sweaty job, not that dirty! Still, hockey and Mike would be a nice combination – about the only two shows I watch combined.

I notice in hockey, if the teams go into overtime but lose in overtime, they still get a point! Why is that? How does that work? Does them getting a point in overtime still count?

It’s been pretty well explained to you in previous answers so I’m just going to editorialize a little.

IMHO the current point system used by the NHL is flawed. Some games (OT/shootout games) are worth three points while others are worth only two points. This creates an unbalanced system when team standings are established.

I’d like to see all games worth three points. A win in regulation earns 3 points. A loss in regulation earns 0 points. A regulation tie earns one point for each team with whoever wins the OT/shootout getting the third point.

The government gives scholarships to black students who cannot afford a college education. Why not sports? We should set up skating rinks in black communities and purchase enough equipment for them to have a chance.

Progressive Liberal

Trolling/parody fail.
You have articulated the ACTUAL Democrat position, therefore Democrats here will deny it.
Keep in mind that when one of THEIR OWN suggested a POSSIBILITY exists that SOME such disparities may not be WHOLLY due to discrimination, Democrats all over the country reacted by demanding he be fired.
Want more details? Do your own homework, Democrats, then you can call YOUR sources liars. Keyword hint: Harvard. Beyond that you’re on your own.
