Now that my son is getting interested in hockey, I’d love to start buying them again.

Why aren’t they selling these any more?!?!

They still make hockey cards – which have fallen out of favour in the last decade or so. Surely an inexpensive sticker book would do well enough with young people (and parents who grew up with them) to warrant making them.

It’s a couple of things
– the NHLPA made a decision a few years ago to grant exclusive licenses to fewer companies for more money…….Topps/O-Pee-Chee and Pannini weren’t willing to up the ante
– the market moved away from stickers towards cards in the early to mid 90s (stickers once used were no longer a wanted commodity) as an investment (since failed)

Many sports teams stay at the Downtown Marriott. You may want to consider hanging out at Chris Chelios’ bar on the southside on the night before/after the game.

I have a son who is now 6 years old. He started skating at the age of 2. Does anyone know of any good hockey camps in the Northeastern Indiana area where he could go? He has been going to local camps, but I want to expand to other coaches who might teach him in other areas.

I think its a great idea to get different viewpoints and coaches it could give him an edge over different kids his age.

USA hockey has a magazine that lists a bunch of different camps across the US and Canada for all different ages levels varying a lot in cost and length.

http://www.usahockeymagazine.com/camps.php?left_nav=95

that’s the link. I would skim through and read the descriptions and check out the links.(id like to limit the choices more but i cant be sure exactly what you re looking for)

I was just curious how Olympic hockey was set up. I know the US beat Canada the other day, but they could play again in the tournament? Was the first round just to set up seeding? and how is that if they all didn’t play each other. Just curious on how it is all set up. Thanks.

There are three groups, each group contains four teams, making up 12 teams in total. After the round-robin, the top four teams get a bye into the quarterfinals. It is the three group winners (USA, Sweden, Russa) and the fourth team is the next team with the most points, in this case, Finland.

The remaining eight teams are ranked and play each other in the qualification round (5 Czechs vs 12 Latvia, 6 Canada vs 11 Germany, 7 Slovakia vs 10 Norway and 8 Switzerland vs 9 Belarus). That four winners of those games play the four that got a bye in the quarterfinals (1 USA vs the winner of 8/9 which was Switzerland, 2 Sweden vs the winner of 7/10 which was Slovakia, 3 Russia vs the winner of 6/11 which was Canada and 4 Finland vs the winner of 5/12 which was Czechs).

In the Semifinals, the winner of the game involving team 1 USA plays the winner of the game involving team 4 Finland, so the USA will play Finland. The other semi-final game is the winner of the game involving teams 2 and 3. In this case teams 2 and 3 both lost, to Slovakia and Canada, so Canada and Slovakia will play in the semi-final.

The Gold Medal game is of course between the winners of the remaining teams and the Bronze medeal game is between the losers of the semi-finals.

So the way it is set up, Canada can only play the US again if it’s in the Gold Medal or Bronze Medal game.

I would also like a website that explaines the different types of saves and shows how to dress up as an ice hockey goalie, example, what things u put on first and in what order.

Thanks

Goaltenders need the following equipment and it generally goes on in this order. Some people may do it differently, but it’s impossible to do it drastically different.
1) Cup (most important piece of equipment!)
2) Garter belt and socks
- Some people wear shorts with velco tabs to hold the socks up and a built in cup.
3) Hockey Pants
4) Skates
5) Leg pads
6) Chest protector
7) Helmet/mask
Gloves

There are several types of saves. Kick save, glove save, blocker save, stick save, etc. Below are a couple of links that are probably a bit more relevant. These contain information about goaltending styles and cover the specific saves.
