Where do NHL hockey teams stay when playing in Dallas TX?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I am a n autograph collector in Texas and I want some NHL autographs. If you know, what airport will the teams arrive at and what airlines will they fly?

Many arrive on private planes and airport security makes it nearly impossible to get access to them. They are quickly ushered out of the airport by private transport.

However, there’s a much simpler way… all hockey teams competing against the Stars utilize Dallas Stars facilities for their practice times in the day or so prior to the event. The practices are open to the public and there is a main area where they enter and exit and they always stop to give authographs. Admission is free. Be forewarned that autograph preference goes to children and youth players so if you try and push them aside the teams will retaliate and you won’t get anything.

You can check the calendar during hockey season here: http://www.drpepperstarcenter.com/. But their website is notorious for not getting updated so call each center (the teams rotate between them) the week of the game to ask about the schedule.

who do you think is going to win this NHL hockey game? San Jose Sharks vs. Anaheim Ducks?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

who do you think is going to win this NHL hockey game? San Jose Sharks vs. Anaheim Ducks? Also what will the score be?

I’d like to see the Sharks pull this one out. Hiller has been outstanding in goal, but the pressure at home may get to him. We’ll see.

The Sharks need to start playing as a 4 line team or they will be packing their bags Thursday night.

Final score 3-1 for the winner. Whoever that may be.

What’s the trash talking like in NHL hockey? I see guys mouthing off to each other – what do they say?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

I know trash talking is a part of hockey, but I’ve always been curious as to what exactly are the types of things they say to each other. Does anybody who plays hockey, know what it’s like?

if you watch youtube videos of players bickering to each other across the bench or during faceoffs, it’s usually insults directed at the other person’s skills, wife, or maniless. I’m pretty sure homophobic slurs make up 90% of all trash talking in hockey.

what are the rules of fighting in NHL hockey?

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

It might seem this question is stupid, but I a black dude so I don’t know any thing about hockey lol. Any ways, I recently started to watch some NHL games, and I’m really getting in to it now. Its fun to watch. But, I just don’t understand the rules of fighting. can you guys please explain it to me? Thanks

I will give you the rule straight from the book. Don’t want to read? Here’s a summary.

Guys are allowed to fight, and will receive a 5 minute penalty (no suspension). One-on-one only, if a third guy comes into the fight, he is ejected from the game. If one guy started the fight, then he gets a 2 minute instigator penalty. If one guy keeps fighting when the other guy is obviously down and out, he gets an ‘aggressor’ penalty, which is a game misconduct.

Rule 47 – Fighting
47.1 Fighting – A fight shall be deemed to have occurred when at least
one player (or goalkeeper) punches or attempts to punch an opponent
repeatedly or when two players wrestle in such a manner as to make
it difficult for the Linesmen to intervene and separate the combatants.
The Referees are provided very wide latitude in the penalties with
which they may impose under this rule. This is done intentionally to
enable them to differentiate between the obvious degrees of
responsibility of the participants either for starting the fighting or
persisting in continuing the fighting. The discretion provided should be
exercised realistically.
47.2 Aggressor – The aggressor in an altercation shall be the player (or
goalkeeper) who continues to throw punches in an attempt to inflict
punishment on his opponent who is in a defenseless position or who
is an unwilling combatant.
A player (or goalkeeper) must be deemed the aggressor when he
has clearly won the fight but he continues throwing and landing
punches in a further attempt to inflict punishment and/or injury on his
opponent who is no longer in a position to defend himself.
A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the aggressor of an
altercation shall be assessed a major penalty for fighting and a game
misconduct.
A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the aggressor of an
altercation will have this recorded as an aggressor of an altercation for
statistical and suspension purposes.
A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be both the instigator
and aggressor of an altercation shall be assessed an instigating minor
penalty, a major penalty for fighting, a ten-minute misconduct
(instigator) and a game misconduct penalty (aggressor).
47.3 Altercation – An altercation is a situation involving two players
(including goalkeepers), with at least one to be penalized.
47.4 Clearing the Area of a Fight – When a fight occurs, all players not
engaged shall go immediately to the area of their players’ bench and
in the event the altercation takes place at a players’ bench, the
players on the ice from that team shall go to their defending zone.
Goalkeepers shall remain in their goal crease, except in the event the
altercation takes place in the vicinity of the goal crease, and therefore
shall obey the directions of the Referee. Failure to comply can result
in penalties incurred for their involvement in and around the area and
fines as outlined in 47.18.
47.5 Continuing or Attempting to Continue a Fight – Any player or
goalkeeper who persists in continuing or attempting to continue a fight
or altercation after he has been ordered by the Referee to stop, or
who resists a Linesman in the discharge of his duties shall, at the
discretion of the Referee, incur a misconduct or game misconduct
penalty in addition to any penalties imposed.
47.6 Face Protection – If a player penalized as an instigator of an
altercation is wearing a face shield (including a goalkeeper), he shall
be assessed an additional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Should the player (including a goalkeeper) who instigates the fight
be wearing a face shield, but removes it before instigating the
altercation, the additional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty shall not
apply.

That’s not even the whole rule, see rule 47 in the link

What is a good strategy for NHL Hockey Pools?

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

How do you draft to win an NHL hockey pool?
What positions do you draft first to make the best team?

etc.

Normally people pay me big money for these top hints, but you sound desperate so here are 3 surefire ways of not losing at your hockey pool draft:

1). Don’t draft retired or dead guys.
2) Don’t draft females
3) When its your time to draft just say "The Detroit Red Wings" the whole team not just a player.
