I’m going to Canada for a hockey tournament for like 6 days on December 26th, I’ve heard that hockey skates are significantly cheaper there. As i might need a new pair soon. Thanks
Used to be yes, these days I am not so sure, in part due to the weak American dollar.
Best thing to do is compare price (and availability) of the skates you are looking for, both where you live and where you will be.
I can recommend stores like Gilbert Rousseau in Laval (nr Montreal), Mostly Hockey and Hockey Heaven (both in Toronto) and Cyclone Taylor Sports in Vancouver (last of which is part of Source For Sports based in London Ontario)

1. Russia — a ridiculous amount of talent at forward and top notch goaltending with nabby.
2. Canada — also tremendously talented, could go either way, but i’m taking russia
3. Sweden/Detroit Red Wings — defending champs put out another solid team
4. U.S.A. — Dark horse has the hottest goalie in the tourney with Ryan Miller
5. Slovakia — a lot of firepower, ill take them over the Czechs..question mark is goaltending
6. Switzerland — i dont actually think they’ll finish this high, but they’re my pick for some upsets…good goaltending, solid forwards and a hoss in mark streit

Why is it that if Canada Beats USA (which they won’t) they win gold when USA has not even lost a game and Canada has lost (to us)? shouldn’t the loser bracket have to win twice in the championship game? I mean whats the point of a winners bracket if you can lose your first game to a team that has already lost a game but they then become champions?
It’s like the difference between the regular season and the playoffs. When the USA beat Canada, it was in the preliminary round, which is like the regular season — all it did was establish seedings for the medal round. That’s why those of us who follow hockey kept saying Team USA’s win was not that big of a deal. It wasn’t for a medal, and it didn’t eliminate anyone.
If the Colts and Saints had met in the regular season, for example, the outcome of that game would have had no bearing on the Super Bowl. Same deal with USA vs. Canada.

Shea Weber’s goal that left scorch marks in the net led to a three-goal second period, and a revived Canada beat Germany 8-2 behind Jarome Iginla’s two goals to set up a superpower showdown against Russia in the Olympic men’s hockey tournament. (Feb. 23)

Mine would have to be when I was captain in a game when we were playing in a Hockey Tournament, and I scored once and got 3 assists. That might not sound good, but I got to hold the big trophy because we won the Championship
. Whats your favorite memory?
Attending a hockey game with my grandfather on December 27th, 2000. While some will scoff at this as just a grandfather and grandson enjoying a great game, this means a ton to me for two reasons: Mario’s comeback game (I was the luckiest bastard to even get the tickets as a Christmas gift), and the chance to watch hockey with one of the wisest men I have ever known. Currently my grandfather is battling Alzheimer’s disease.
