What hotel do the visiting teams stay at when they play the blackhawks?

Many sports teams stay at the Downtown Marriott. You may want to consider hanging out at Chris Chelios’ bar on the southside on the night before/after the game.

How will your hockey teams do?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Well Figure to ask on your favorite hockey team. How will they do. I am a New York Rangers fan. And we hope to make the playoffs again. And go farther.

Coachie

i like the ducks, teemu selanne was comeback player of the year, YEAH! he kicked ass in the olympics and the playoffs. reunited with coach randy carlyle from the jets years i think they might be unstoppable. first year coaching in the nhl and his team makes it all the way western final, or semi-final i don’t remember. they also now have the 2 best defensemen in the whole league. go ducks!
i do still secretly cheer for phoenix because of wayne and because im a winnipeger, im a jets fan. they have potential, last season they were significantly better then in the past, wayne is doing good things. i hope the gambling ring thing doesn’t effect them, it shouldn’t though.
i hate to say this, because i do not like them, but the oilers have a definite chance of winning the cup. the pronger trade only benefited them more and ol’ rollie is ready to go. they are young, fast and solid. we’ll see what happens i guess, i can’t wait!

Are there any amateurs on the USA and Canadian Olympic Hockey teams? Or have all the players played as pros?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

There was a time when all Olympic athletes were amateurs, and they would be prohibited from playing in the Olympics if they were ever paid to play.

Are there still any amateurs on the Canadian or American Olympic Hockey teams?

No amateurs have played for Canada or the USA since 1984. No amateurs have played for Sweden, Finland, and Germany since 1964

Are there any Florida colleges with women’s hockey teams?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I e-mailed someone from the ACHA to double check but he said that there are no florida colleges that have a women’s hockey team registered to the ACHA. He however also said that just because there is no team registered to the ACHA doesn’t mean there aren’t any in FL. Does anyone know if there are any women’s collegiate hockey teams in FL?

I know of no women’s college teams in Florida. I do remember a few years ago, I read an article about the coach of the men’s team at the University of Florida starting a team.

where do those in Canada get off supporting hockey teams in America?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

If you are born in Canada that means you support teams in Canada and not somewhere else. Those who support the globalization of hockey are traitors to Canada.

who in the hell do you think you are to tell people what they can and cannot do. were you watching t v ay 11 am yesterday. those men and women with the red things. called a poppy. reason to many people were telling people what to do. you do not have the ability physically or mentally to tell any canadian what to do. there is another user with you attitude she hates indians. calls them filthy. want do you think would happen if this clown told this to a first nation woman. don’t play god, don’t try to someone you are not. grab your lollipops go play with your computer game.

what economic impact would moving a hockey team to southern ontario have on regional teams?

Monday, March 1st, 2010

How would the CEO of Research in Motions plan to buy the Coyotes and move them to Southern Ontario impact the Sabres and the Maple Leafs. Do NHL teams have a territory rights like they do in football where they could block such a move?

The Maple Leafs have a decades-long waiting list for season tickets. Somehow, I just don’t see their STH (I’m one of them) bolting. The Leafs are an iconic global brand (and unrelated, this blue and white koolaid…they made me a good batch today…yum!). Buffalo’s STH base has been the subject of much discussion. I believe that approximately 10% of their STH are based in Ontario (give or take).

Buffalo could vote against the proposal, but it’s one vote. A Southern Ontario team may have to pay a territorial indemnation fee. MLSE (owners of the Leafs) have been on record as saying they do not oppose a second team in the GTA.

Here’s my two cents (worthless): if you’re a fan of either the Leafs or the Sabres, then you’re a fan, right? I mean, if you like the Sabres, are you really going to jump allegiance for some new team? For me, I know the answer and it didn’t require that much thought.

Look…if the GTA were in America it would be the 4th largest media market, and it’s a pretty hockey-centric market.
