Why are so many hockey players left handed?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Looking at pro-hockey teams, a majority of the players shoot left handed. Is this because they teach players to shoot left handed, even if they are right handed? Or is there some reason left handed people are better at hockey?

Shooting left or right-handed doesn’t always have much to do with what hand you normally are.

When you’re stickhandling, the dominant hand is the top hand.
For righties, that means shooting left-handed gives you more stick control and is often a more natural movement. So, a right-handed person is often immediately more comfortable with a left-handed stick.

I’ve always been a lefty in hockey, although I’m usually a righty in baseball (because again my right hand would be on top in a bat grip).

Whenever hockey players give interviews, why do they almost always wear baseball hats?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I guess this could be categorized as a "stupid question", but why do hockey players wear hats while giving interviews after games? Is it because they don’t want anyone to see their sweaty hair? Hmmmm…. Thanks to those of you who answer!

Not a stupid question..Yeah its to hide their sweaty hair and usually the players hair is long so that keep the hair out of the eyes..also wearing a helmet all game, you get redness around your forehead…

Sidebit-If you notice,in the locker room after a baseball game,MLB players very rarely wear a baseball hat..

what are some good reasons why teachers should get paid more than hockey players?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I am writing about how teachers should get paid more than hockey players and i need some more reasons, do you have any good ones?

Teacher’s will have further incentive to do a better job in the classroom.

Teacher’s work a lot harder than hockey player’s do, because teaching people is pretty hard work. They have to devote a lot of off-the-clock time to grading and helping students and such, not to mention teacher’s still have lives outside of school to maintain.

Teachers are what help raise up the next generation. They watch-over, nurture, and educate children almost (and sometimes more) than parents do. Everybody can use a teacher, not everyone can use a hockey player.

Who are the second and third best hockey players of all time?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Debating over who is # 1 is pointless. That’s #99.

But who are the 2nd and 3rd best hockey players of all time?

I agree Gretzky is #1 but I don’t think he blows #2 and # 3 out of the water. The most common opinion (which I think is pretty bang-on) is:

1. Gretzky
2. Lemieux
3. Bobby Orr
