Does anyone know of an EA Sports NHL Hockey for the Wii?

February 3rd, 2010

There’s a 2K9 Hockey, but no EA NHL…EA Sports has everything else – Madden, NBA Live, FIFA, Tiger Woods, so when is NHL coming out? Or will it?

I’ve not heard of anything on the grapevine.

Which is disappointing really as EA NHL on the Wii would be really good…

It’s a possibility that EA aren’t convinced that the Wii’s current sensor capabilities are as good as they’d like…. If this is true, then maybe they’re waiting for the Wii Motion Plus accessory to be released.

Hopefully this will be released in early 2009 when Wii Sports Resort is released.

Can anyone recommend a good strong metal hockey goal?

February 3rd, 2010

I would like to practice with one that won’t break down on me, I bough a cheap one and it got destroyed… One that can take slap shots , snap and wrist shots.

oh also a strong net and a shooting goalie target thing.

Thanks!

for your net well it depends on your budget, shooter tutor: go with Franklin THT

Will my ice hockey pads be ok if i use them once on a basketball court (for a indoor streethockey tournament)?

February 3rd, 2010

Will my ice hockey pads be ok if i use them once on a basketball court (for a indoor street hockey tournament)? This is because my team needs a goalie and im willing if i can wear my pads. Just let me know if you think they will rip, scuff really bad, or anything else because i need them for ice hockey still. THANKS

Probably not. They’ll rip up like crazy on that kind of surface. Street hockey pads are made of tougher stuff built to take that kind of abuse. Those aren’t. They’ll scuff really bad at the very least.

Edit: wait, I misread. Indoor is the key here. If that means wood court, then you should be fine. If it’s those plastic tile things, then it’s not good. Duct tape on the bottom of pads would be a good idea anyway though.

Which junior hockey teams have developed the most NHL talent?

What is it girls like about hockey players?

February 3rd, 2010

good hockey drills for street hockey?

February 3rd, 2010

I need some good STICKHANDELING&SHOOTING drill with a BALL. I have one of those smart hockey balls too so any drills with that I can do and also with a regular street hockey ball. No skating drills.
btw, I play center

Shoot, shoot shoot shoot as much as possible. I’m guessing a smart ball is like a bouncy knobby ball with a mind of its own. That or a tennis ball will do great. a curb or a wall is great to bank off of it sorta works as a pass back to yourself. get some cones and spread them out work on "deeking" around the cones. the key to stick handling is repetition so work on the same drills over and over again and mix them up so they don’t get stale work on the figure " 8 " from forehand to back hand.

What is the best cut for an ice hockey skate?

February 3rd, 2010

I’m curious as to what are the benefits of various cuts on ice skates. I’ve been using the "house cut" at my local rink which is 1/2 inch. But I’ve heard of other hockey players using 3/8, 5/8, 7/16, etc. How do these cuts affect the way people skate?

The hollow of the blade affects how much you hug your edges and how fast you go. The closer to 1" you get, the shallower the hollow becomes, and the faster you’ll skate. The deeper the hollow, the sharper you turn. Some heavier set people prefer a deeper hollow because they find it gives them more stability. It’s a personal preference. The only problem with getting a custom cut (aside from just remembering what you like) is that it’s different from what the rink’s specialty is, so they may or may not set it correctly every time (depending on who’s doing your sharpening).

Where Can I Find NHL Hockey Games On DVD?

January 31st, 2010

I’m looking for some hockey games from the 50’s to recent times. I’ve checked ebay and hdhockey but I’ve been unable to find anything. Would nhl.com, tsn.com, the team sites have anything? Is there any other way to find these games?

Actual full-lnegth games. Only "official’ releases that have that are the NYR’s 1994 Cup run DVD and the Ultimate Gretzky DVD re-release whcih ahs 5 games on it. Unofficially, do a search on Yahoo. I traded with some doofus called Adam Mintz who lives in MA. He’s OK but anally retentive. I have loads of games on video that I have yet to convert. Best bet is off the map sort of. Forget ebay, etc. and look on web for guy who sell or swap DVDs.

NHL is clueless when it comes to marketing. CBC in Canada actually erased many of their master tapes which is why so few games from the glory era of the NHL survive.
